South African National Electric Power Plans to Invest 153.4 Billion in New Plant

On April 26, South African public enterprises minister Lynne Brown said that the next five years, South African National Electric Power Company (Eskom) would invest 340 billion rand (about RMB 1534 billion yuan) in new power plants and transmission lines.

South African National Power is building new power plants and transmission lines to expand network capacity. At the beginning of last year, South African National Power again suffered electricity crisis, which can only rely on the enforcement of power to solve the problem. Yet this measure has hit South Africa's economic growth.

South African National Power is building three new power plants that are expected to increase capacity by 5620 megawatts of power grid in 2018.

Brown added that other parts of Africa was also an important growth market. The current fiscal year, South African National Power is focused on new business opportunities in Congo and Uganda, Sambuc market.
