Finland Assisted Vietnam to Develop Smart Grid

Recently, the Central Electricity Company of Vietnam and Finland ABB Oy company launched mini-data collection and monitoring (SCADA) system project in the central and central highlands regions, aimed at developing a smart grid.

In the central province of Quang Nam Tam Kỳ and central highland provinces of Gia Lai Province Pleiku, starting the mini-SCADA system to minimize system failure, reduce the risk of accidents and improve power supply efficiency was very important.

Two projects total investment was about $ 4.5 million.

Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Hoang Quoc Vuong said that since 2006, the use of 10.5 million euros concessional credit from Finland, the central power company has built a mini SCADA systems in the central and central highland areas of four cities, and gained a positive result.

Hoang Quoc Vuong hoped that the future power sector would continue to receive official development assistance and concessional credit from the Government of Finland, which in accordance with the blueprint for the development of Vietnam's power system to modernize the national grid.

According to Finnish Minister of Foreign Trade Development Lenita Toivakka, located in Tam Kỳ and Pleiku mini SCADA system would use Finnish technology to improve efficiency and reliability of the power supply system. More frequent and more stable power supply would help promote economic growth, improve the quality of local life.

So far, Finland has provided a total of 57 million euros assistance to 20 projects in Vietnam health care, environment, clean water, energy and other areas of the grid.
