Russian Telecom Began to Deploy 2000 km Far-east Submarine Cable

A few days ago, the Russian national telecom operator, Russia Telecom has begun to deploy a far east submarine fiber optic cable. Submarine cable across the Sea of Okhotsk would connect Kamchatka, Sakhalin and Magadan.

The part of submarine optical cable onnecting Magadan and Sakhalin Island was expected to be completed in September, and the part connecting Sakhalin and Kamchatka Peninsula was expected to be completed by December. Far east submarine fiber optic cable project was being implemented by Huawei Marine cooperation. At the same time, the coastal telecommunications infrastructure was also being prepared for the submarine cable interconnection.

This new DWDM submarine cable with total length of about 2,000 kilometers, the initial capacity was 400Gbps, the future has the opportunity to expand to 8Tbps.
